NUTRITION, the Ivorian government looking for reliable data for a better investment
In order to guide decision-making and investments in nutrition, the Ivorian government is seeking reliable and credible nutrition data. The initiative is part of the implementation of the National Multisectoral Nutrition Plan (PNMN) 2016-2020 developed by the government with the financial support of the European Union (EU) and the technical support of UNICEF. To obtain this data, a 5-day workshop has been held since Monday, December 09, 2019 on the initiative of SE CONNAPE, the Executive Secretariat of the National Council for Nutrition, Food and Early Childhood Development. Led by the National Multisectoral Information Platform for Nutrition, this workshop aims to collect and harmonize data validated by the key ministries involved in the implementation of the activities of the National Multisectoral Nutrition Plan for the period 2016-2020. At the opening ceremony, Dr. TRA Bi Constant, Coordinator of the Acting Executive Secretariat of CONNAPE, thanked the participants for their exemplary participation before announcing that the Prime Minister through his Director of Cabinet Mr. AHOUTOU Koffi is counting on the results of this workshop to provide Côte d'Ivoire with necessary data to guide nutrition investments. Until December 13, 2019, participants will check the correspondence between the data entered on the tools reported to the SE-CONNAPE and the data validated by the ministries. The platform will collect all databases and survey reports from key sectoral ministries, present and validate data collection tools and finally identify sectoral indicators related to nutrition.
Dr N'dri Faustin, PNMIN Project Manager, reminded the project by presenting its objectives. These include creating national platforms for country-led nutrition, creating and analyzing information and reporting from all sectors that influence nutrition to address nutrition priority issues and communicate and use information for nutrition. guide policy decisions on nutrition policies, programs and investments. During this workshop, each ministry and partner presents data from the indicators of its department. Each presentation is followed by exchanges to clarify. The collection tools will be presented in order to eventually have reliable and useful data for decision-making and investment in nutrition.
